Jerry is the managing partner and senior immigration attorney at Szabo, Zelnick & Erickson (“SZE”). Jerry attended George Mason University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business in 1981. He then obtained his J.D. in 1984 from George Mason University School of Law. After graduating from law school, Jerry was selected for a Judicial Clerkship for the Judges of the Circuit Court of Prince William County. He joined SZE in 1987, and has been a partner since 1989.

The Prince William County Bar Association previously elected Jerry to serve as one of its members on the Judicial Selection Committee. This committee is responsible for interviewing perspective judicial candidates for appointment to the bench. Jerry has spoken to various legal groups in Virginia to address issues related to ethics, professionalism, and immigration. Jerry has also had the opportunity to speak to the Western Immigration Networking Group (WINGS), and various groups at GMUSL. Jerry has written columns for the News & Messenger on immigration related topics.

Jerry is currently a member of several associations and groups, including the Virginia State Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the International Business Committee and the Virginia State Bar International Practice Section, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

At SZE, the immigration practice focuses primarily on family related issues and on corporate immigration, for both large and small organizations. In particular, Jerry’s team assists employers and individual clients in obtaining temporary working visas, permanent resident status, and U.S. citizenship. The immigration team provides counsel and guidance on a broad range of US/global immigration issues, including both inbound/outbound corporate immigration issues. SZE also provides guidance on I-9 compliance issues/processes.

Immigration law is complex and it’s critical that the proper strategy be used for each case…as the impact can be serious for all concerned. The goal at SZE is to provide a immigration process, without surprises, for each case.
