Mr. Parsons is an associate attorney in the Immigration Section of SZE. Justin joined our firm in 2010. He attended Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in History and Political Science in 2001. He then pursued his law degree at Brooklyn Law School in Brooklyn Heights, New York, where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 2004, and was later admitted to the New York State Bar in 2005. He was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 2006, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in 2007. While in law school Mr. Parsons distinguished himself as an academic merit scholar as well as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society (Trial Advocacy Division). During law school, Mr. Parsons served as a legal intern/law clerk at The Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Division, where he dedicated himself to assisting in the defense of indigent clients in the Bronx and Manhattan.
Since graduating from law school, Mr. Parsons has solely worked in the field of immigration law. Mr. Parsons began his legal career in New York City where he assisted small start-up companies, Fortune 500 companies, large international law firms, and billion dollar financial firms and hedge funds with their business immigration needs. In his practice, he has become well-versed in the preparation and filing of nonimmigrant visas such as E-2, E-3, H-1B, L-1, O-1, R-1, and TN, as well as the employment based immigrant visa process (PERM). Throughout his career, he has worked with every type of corporate client, from HR professionals to foreign CEOs, lawyers, doctors, accountants, financial analysts, quantitative analysts, and software engineers.
In addition to his business immigration law experience, Mr. Parsons is well-versed in family immigration law and litigation. Throughout his career he has routinely represented individuals with family based immigrant petition filings as well as naturalizations before the USCIS. He has litigated immigration cases before the Executive Office for Immigration Review, Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Third, and Seventh Circuits, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He has a track record of aggressively advocating for the rights of his foreign national clients against the U.S. Department of State, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Justin is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). In 2008 he served on the Continuing Legal Education and New Members Division Committees for the New York Chapter, and in 2009 he served on the Pro Bono and Litigation Committees. In 2010, Mr. Parsons participated in the Citizenship Now! program sponsored by AILA, the City University of New York, and the NY Daily News, where he provided pro bono services to indigent immigrants in New York City. He stays abreast of all developments in immigration law through his active participation in AILA and through his daily interaction with the USCIS, Department of State, and Department of Labor.
Mr. Parsons has served as a guest lecturer at the City University of New York, John Jay College, on various topics including business and family immigration law. In 2009, he helped research and edit an article on family based immigration practice which appeared in the 2009 AILA Immigration Practice Toolbox.
