Several
years ago, I was contacted by a friend of a current client who was
desperate to get out of a bad situation. He was a foreign medical
graduate who entered the US on a J-1 visa to complete a residency and
fellowship in anesthesiology. He found a program that offered to find
him a sponsor for both a waiver of his 2-year home residency and his
H-1B status. He paid thousands of dollars to get the waiver and H-1B
approved, but after a few months, he was frustrated with the working
environment and the relationship he had with his employer. He was
forced to work long hours, had his pay withheld, and was refused
vacation time. It was putting a strain on both his professional and
personal life. He went to the program that had placed him with the
employer and asked for help, but they refused.
Once he found a new employer where he new he would be happier, I was
able to negotiate a transfer of his approved waiver through the state
health department. His waiver and H-1B were transferred to the new
employer so that he could complete his waiver requirement without a
hassle. Eventually, I worked with him in applying for his green card
and he is now preparing to apply for naturalization to become a U.S.
citizen. He enjoyed working with the new employer so much that he is
still there and happy.
It’s always a pleasure when he sends me pictures of himself and his
family, enjoying their favorite activities and the quality of life they
had after he was able to transfer his H-1B.

Immigration is complex and it is important to know that your attorney
is knowledgeable of all the “ins” and “outs” of the immigration
process.
About a year ago, I was contacted by a new client desperate
to find a solution since he and his wife were out of status and his
kids were U.S. citizens. He had already spoken with an immigration
attorney from another law firm who told him he had no options and that
he would either have to stay here illegally or return to his home
country. I encouraged him to still come in for a consult and during
the course of our discussion it turned out he was eligible for
immigration benefits under an obscure immigration regulation.
He
decided to retain our firm and we proceeded with filing green card
applications for him and his wife. Today they are both legal permanent
residents happily residing in the U.S. with their kids.

Everyone talks about providing superior service. I’m not sure what that
means, but I know that our firm members are there to help you when you
need us.
A few years ago we prepared a TN package and sent it to a new employee
in Canada so that he could apply at a POE and enter the US in TN
status. The employee delayed going to the POE for 6 weeks and when he
applied was advised by the officer that the letters in the package were
“too old”. He learned this on a Sunday morning.
I received his email for assistance just when my wife and I were headed
to brunch on Sunday morning at 10:38AM. The short story is that we were
able to pull our SZE team together and get documents sent to the
business center at the airport that afternoon so the candidate could
still travel to the US and begin working on Monday morning. This is the
level of service that we provide routinely.
