Problems with New Visa Application Form - DS-160

3.03.2010 -

There have been recent widespread reports of difficulty for applicants in accessing as well as completing the new DS-160 Visa Application Form online.  On March 1, 2010, the DOS rolled out the use of the DS-160 worldwide.  As a result of the increased traffic and use, applicants began experiencing problems utilizing the form.

The DOS has reported that it is in the process of fixing the DS-160. In the meantime, many U.S. Consulates have resumed accepting the DS-156 and DS-157, but this is happening on a case by case basis. Applicants who cannot complete the DS-160 should check the website of the U.S. Consulate where they plan to apply to confirm whether the old forms will be accepted in the interim.
