Washington may not be taking considerable action on immigration reform but at least the USCIS is. Recently they have been revamping their processes and procedures to make the immigration process more effective, seamless, and secure.
They announced on Monday, May 16, 2011, that they have changed the procedure for individuals who are applying for I-130’s (Petition for An Alien Relative) and are in a country without a USCIS office present. Previously these people, who make up 5% of I-130 applicants, applied for I-130’s at their local U.S. Embassy or Consulate. New regulations allow these individuals to send their applications to the USCIS Chicago Lockbox facility at the below addresses.
For U.S. Postal Service:
USCIS
P.O. Box 804625
Attn. CSC/I-130/OS
Chicago, IL 60680-4107
For Express mail and courier deliveries:
USCIS
Attn. CSC/I-130/OS
131 South Dearborn – 3rd Floor
Chicago, IL 60603-5517
This option is also available for those residing in countries with USCIS offices. This new procedure will become effective August 15, 2011.
Individuals with questions or concerns should contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
